The article was published in the BBC News on the 29th of August 2013.

Camerons vision is to get UK net migration below 100,000 before the next election in 2015. Over 342,000 people left the UK in September 2012. Immigration minister Mark Harper said that the new immigration bill was going to make it more difficult for people to come to the UK. It would also become much easier to kick the people out who weren’t supposed to be there. People come to the UK because there is a lot more opportunities for better and more exciting life. Approximately 24,000 citizens from Romania and Bulgaria came to the UK in 2013. 70% came to work and 30% came to study.
The number of EU citizens arriving in the UK rose to 209,000 from 149,000 the previous year, the ONS said. But immigration of non-EU citizens saw a statistically significant decrease, to 244,000 from 269,000 the previous year.
